Introduction

According to the fact sheet of cancer in WHO, cancer is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. It is expected that annual cancer cases will rise from 14 million in 2012 to 22 million within the next 2 decades.

The most common causes of cancer death are cancers of:

  • Lung
  • Liver
  • Stomach
  • Colorectal
  • Breast
  • Oesophageal cancer

According to the World Cancer Research Fund International, the top 10 countries with highest cancer rate in 2012 are:

  1. Denmark
  2. France (metropolitan)
  3. Australia
  4. Belgium
  5. Norway
  6. United States of America
  7. Ireland
  8. Korea, Republic of
  9. The Netherlands
  10. New Caledonia

This project will focus on specific cancer types and their mortality rates worldwide during 2000-2010, including top 10 country for each cancer type and its comparison by year series.
